Night Terrors

Curatorial

Photography

Date

June 2024

The Rubell Museum presents "Night Terrors," a group show featuring 28 artists from the Rubell collection. In this exhibition, the artists invite us into their worlds, revealing their fears, concerns, and private, often guilt-ridden thoughts, pondering what keeps them awake at night. These works explore themes of longing childhood, fear, abuse, trauma, and sexuality, depicting the struggles of growing up in a world far from ideal. By creating visual worlds, they provide a new reality of what could have been, what is, and what their unconscious ponders. “Night Terrors” is an exploration of terror through humor, pain, fantasy, madness, longing and desperation.
